Been a mission but Valve shims done, valve covers on, new belts on and tensioned, engine turns freely with crank turning tool so tomorrow its coolant and tank on . Will be a bit nervous switching on the bike though lol That'll be the weekend eeek
Let us know how it goes! My 848 is due for its first valve service, i will probably end up changing them just so they are in tighter spec and i dont have to mess with them at the next major service.
Valve shims was a lot easier than i thought, bit fiddly with the half ring collets but easy. Anyhoo, air box back on, radiator back on, new coolant in .... ooooooo getting closer to the big switch no lol
What method did you use to tension your belts ? I'm about to do mine for the first time as im now approaching three years and don't wanna push my luck to far.
In between the cams i used a 10m spanner as a guide to tension ... as in move the belt to top inside and bottom inside of the spanner opening. .. then i used 2 different tuners via a microphone on my laptop to double check the hz in the positions given in the manual, readings were 103hz ... as i used exactfit belts the range was 99hz to 110hz max
