V4 Givi Top Box

  1. Get my new v4s in a couple of weeks,
It comes with travel and radar
Has anyone fitted a different top
Box other than the Ducati one?
    Maybe givi trekker ?

  2. Same here - I also have a Givi 30 litre Trekker box, but in "silver", and a Ducati top box for similar reasons. I only tend to use the Ducati top box with the panniers for touring. I brought the Trekker as I can't get my laptop in the new design of Ducati touring tank bag (the V4 bag is a lot narrower and a bit taller than the 1200/1260 design). I've not experienced any stability issues but generally the V4 is a lot more stable at speed than my 1200 DVT.

  3. Define High Speed :)

As with Steveb123 I find the V4 very stable in almost all conditions; but it has not been on a German unrestricted Autobahn - yet! It is possible to make it unstable if you use the V4 revs! If you accelerate hard the front will go light in both touring and sports mode and the AWS will cut in to bring it back to earth. I have also had the rear tyre let go a little bit under hard acceleration on the exit of a bend that had ripples in the tarmac, the TC took over and nothing untoward happened, just keep the power on and let it sort itself out.

  4. On both my 1200s DVT & 1260 Pikes they were stable upto about 115mph with Ducati panniers or topbox fitted, but after that you could almost guarantee they’d start to weave. Change to a soft bag on the passenger seat and the issue stopped completely. Both bikes had the suspension set up quite firmly for fast road / sport riding.
So my query really is does the lower profile and smaller size of the 30 liter givi keep the weave at bay?

  5. Is there a specific rack needed for the givi trekker? I have travel and radar v4s

  6. If it’s the same that comes with the bike when ordered it’s a sliding plate too with the correct screws and base plate etc. much neater and probably a little lower too.

  7. It looks like the same mounting plate that is included in the plastic top case kit, complete with the 4 screws:

  8. Yes, that’s it. It’s two parts already fixed together that allow a little movement between the case and the bike.
