Glove Recommendations

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by James85, Apr 21, 2023.

  1. Hi, looking for recommendations on new gloves. I have Dainese full metal gloves but find them a bit uncomfortable for long rides and I also have Dainese goretex dry gloves, very comfortable but a bit warm for the summer.
    Any other suggestions?

  2. There is only one solution…trying them on! Even then it is a bit of a punt.
Then they may need a couple of rides to bed in.
Width of hand, length of fingers…..how long you ride for…seams that dig in, millimetres short in the fingers=numb fingers after hours?
Also, gloves tend to stretch a bit. I had some Kushitani gloves years back, fantastic quality and very comfy, but they went a bit baggy.
I have long fingers and wide across the knuckles, but not big wrists..for me Dainese and APstars work well in xl or xxl

I have just bought two pairs of Alpinestars, shorties and standard long. They were comfy in the shop, little fingers not so comfy after an hour of riding. Probably down to the linked finger race design for the outer two fingers. After a few ride outs they have improved.
There is no perfect answer I suspect to your question as the fit is personal.
Fits like a glove? Sometimes. With luck.

  4. Great kit. Not cheap or trendy but if you want quality…
Nowhere sells them here that I know and like crash helmets, trying for size is essential.

  5. I had Knox Handroids for the protection. Very comfy. Good adjustment. I had a mid speed off in them and they took a battering. Unable to get them repaired I replaced them with a kangaroo palm job by Racer of France. They also use Knox protection. Excellent.

  6. Knox Handroids for me.

  7. Held Air n Dry all day long. 2 gloves in one. Excellent protection. Inner liner doesn’t come out. I absolutely love them. Can’t recommend them highly enough.

  8. How about gloves from BKS?

    https://www.bksleather.co.uk/shop/gloves/

I tried some on when I was last there. As you’d expect from Brian, the quality felt as good as it gets.

NB: Brian Sansom’s BKS in Exmouth, not the BKS-branded crap from J&S.

Do you want waterproof or summer gloves?

  9. Just looked them up, seem perfect actually. Just need to find a local shop to try them on hopefully.

  11. Had a few "incidents" in my Racer gloves and I won't be changing any time soon. Only for TDs though so can't say for all day.

  12. I have handroids too. But, they have scaphoid protection lumps of plastic which press on my already once broken scaphoids on both wrists and make them ache after a time. I recently bought another set of kushitanis which were like an old set i had worn exclusively till I wore them out. So I am breaking these in currently. Gloves are probably one of the most subjective articles of protection. But the kushi scaphoid protection is soft and I adore these gloves. Always try them on is my advice. In summer I have a lightweight set from dainese for when temps are really high but I'll still likely wear the kushi's instead.

  13. I guess am looking for gloves that will be comfortable all day in Scottish summers

  14. My vote is Kushitani. Like wearing velvet once they're properly worn in. If I had the wedge, I'd be kushitani head to foot.

  17. Yeah, that was summer ;)

Only kidding, I’ve had some superb weather up and around Moray Firth…. :upyeah:

  18. The Daytona of the glove world. Supposed to be the best gloves you can buy.

Haven’t tested them in anger yet. Won’t be long though
