blaming them that BS can solve the problem in 2 weeks for no money at all but won't. "now we must spend millions to adapt".. this came from Audi Racing direct....
There is a reason why its a control tyre and its not to control the racing. Personally, I dont see the reason for the one tyre rule. Let each team run what ever tyre is best for them in reagrds to safety and speed
The single tyre rule has failed to even out the racing which i thought was its only objective. Time to let Michelin and others back in but i suspect too many people now have a vested interest in keeping Bridgestone as sole suppliers.
This is my biggest beef with MotoGP right now - the fact that they keep introducing rules which are against the ethos of MotoGP being a prototype series! First it was tyres, next year it's ECUs... Yes, I know you say it's to keep costs down but that's not the real reason either; more correctly it's to fill the grid! If you want to start having common components like tyres and ECUs, do it in the production classes instead, over in SBK!
is'nt the point that if only one team gets a 'special tyre' as used to happen in the past, then that's an unfair advantage within the rules. it would be like allowing one rider to have a larger fuel tank, so they could turn the power up without the fear of running out of fuel. there has to be framework rules, or every season the manufacturer with the best R & D with the largest budget would always win. what those rules should be will always be a mute point.
Not really,it would be for the team to get the best tyre deal from the best supplier who will work with them. Where it falls down is priority will always be given to factory teams. Wonder whtehr the solution is make specific, ie Yamaha choose a tyre supplier, then all Yamamahas have teh same tyre options. If a suppller was cute they could work with nearly the whole grid as they really are developing tyres for a couple of bikes nly, not 30. But then how do you solve CRT...
Is it currently the case that the one supplier we have provides tyres equally to all teams and nobody gets special treatment. Fail to see why this would necessarily change if the number of allowed suppliers was 2 or 3 or 4 etc instead of one. This is the middle ground between what we have and what used to happen. Therefore the reason we have one supplier is not to level the playing field is it
MotoGP is where manufacturers are supposed to develop cutting edge prototype machines. This is not WSBK which is based on production machines. I know there is a recession, but it hasn't stopped major teams pulling out of the series and the grid now has to be filled by the CRT guys effectively running a different race. Dorna have totally screwed the series and will probably do the same to WSBK. Give us back our racing, scrap the control tyres, and let the teams race.
