1198 Going To Scream. Indicator Removal...

  1. Simple one I'm sure but I'm getting frustrated.

One of the two bolts that holds the tail tidy came out. This in turn let the plate drop down and smash itself to bits against the tyre (including the mount). I have a new plate mount... I've got the old one off, but for the life of me, can't figure out how to take the indicators off. I must be missing the blindingly obvious. The manual says to simply rotate a quarter turn upwards and withdraw. Just not happening.

Someone please put me out of my misery...

  2. On the 999 you twist the whole indicator, took me a while to find out and i'd never had guessed but eventually I "committed" to twisting expecting a break but all good.

  3. I've twisted the whole indicator housing 1/4 turn (as says the manual). I've gone the whole way round even! Nothing! Won't come out

  4. There is a very long hollow nut that holds the rear indicator on. The wires run down the middle of the nut. They are not easy to unscrew as it is tight to get a spanner onto them. The top one is the standard Ducati one. DSCN0320s.JPG

  5. So I undo the long nut on the inside, whilst holding the indicator body? I can do it, but it just keeps turning and nothing is giving.

  6. Ok so it just decided to come loose.

    Sorted. Thanks.

Now can someone sort it so it doesn't rain tomorrow?

  7. It won't be raining here, it will probably be in the high 20's again and hot sun, far to hot to use the bikes.
