1199 Gold Wheels

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Chuds1, Mar 12, 2018.

  1. Hi All,

I’ve been busy stripping my bike down and giving it a good clean and changing a few bits and pieces up. I always feel better about a new bike once I’ve had it stripped down to give it a good check over.

I have always been a fan of the gold wheels on the Ducati’s so while I had it in stripped down I decided to give it a go and see if I preferred them gold. I painted them with rubber plasti dip paint so if I’m not sure I can peel it off. I’m pretty happy with the end result.

I’ll probably leave the plasti dip paint on until later on in the year and then have the wheels painted if I decide to go all in with the gold.

  4. I think the hardest thing if I decided to get them painted gold is finding the right place to paint them and of course getting the colour right. o_O

  5. Wow they are bright! Go well with the Ohlin's where some Golds can clash...

  6. Thanks Exige,

I never really had a choice of gold shade as there isn’t any choice in the rubber paint. Just wanted to give it a try to see if I liked it. But you are right maybe a bit on the bright side.

  7. They look perfect actually, since they match the forks so closely.

  8. Looks great.

Out of interest, will rubber plasti dip hold up to regular cleaning and abuse, or is it more of a short term solution?

  9. Hi Jimmy899,

I used the same paint on my car wheels, different colour and is was on for over a year with no issues. It stood up to all the usual abuse and I regularly power washed them. I think the stuff is great.

  19. Thanks Blat182,
Wow your wheels look fantastic the colour is spot on. Have they been powder coated or painted?
Need to see some pics once you have them fitted. :upyeah:

  20. On the topic, if anyone knows a good powder coater in the southeast who knows how to work with wheels, that would be helpful to me. Would love some gold wheels
