1200 DVT Great Start Then Bugger!!!! Advice Needed

  1. Picked up my 2017 DVT last week and just completed 950 miles up in the Lake District and the Yorkshire Moors, got its first service done up there by Cornerspeed (Great bunch of guys by the way) then rode back, no problems with the bike at all and the 2017 seems alot more responsive in the midrange than my last one, must be the air box mod, anyway got back home and bugger!!!! Dropped one of the panniers on our flagstone floor!!! Never a good result, I now have a pannier with lots of marks and scratches so basically looking for ideas on the best way to remove them L

  3. Here's a suggestion, as far as the matt black plastic bits are concerned. Get a pack of wet & dry paper in a range of grades. Try rubbing the plastic with various grades of wet & dry in a tiny area somewhere inconspicuous, and select the grade which leaves a result as close as possible to the original finish. Then rub down the damaged areas gently but persistently - this may take a long time - until you have removed as much as possible of the damage. This is not a 100% cure, but it is making the best of it.

  4. Get them wrapped , problem solved
lots of places do it and it isn't that expensive

  6. Phew ! I opened this thread with a little hesitation thinking there was problems already with the 2017 ( ordered mine two days ago) :)
As Pete suggests , wet and dry probably best route

  7. :) No quite the opposite, I got caught out in a MASSIVE thunder/lighting and torrential rain storm that went on for a hour up at Windermere, just ploughed on through it and didn't miss a beat, 4 hard days riding in all conditions including some tough riding up through Hardknott, Honister, Kirkstone and Rhino passes. Great bike and great time.

  9. That's what it's all about, and a good reason not to worry about a few nicks on the cases. In a year they will be stone chipped and your boot will thoroughly scar the tops, you won't even notice the current marks
