  1. Hi.
I’ve been lurking a while but thought I’d better say hi !
Recently bought a Multi V4S which I’m loving, apart from the fuel consumption and the throttle play.
Was toying with a full Akra but have read on here that they are not road legal and will invalidate your insurance, yet a few seem to ignore this ?
    What’s the score ? Ta.

  2. Welcome along

As for the exhaust, race systems and insurance/legality is nothing new. The sellers of the systems do what they need to do, they tell you it’s not for public road use, they know your going to fit it and ride it on the road but they’ve done their bit so can sleep at night.
The insurance company ask “has the bike been modified from stock” and this is where you say yes or no and you takes your chances with the consequences of them finding this out.
Some say they declare all mods to their insurance company and it’s not been an issue, maybe they’ve been a little lenient with the whole truth and not mentioned that it’s a race system that the manufacturer has rated not for road use? I don’t know but I would expect anything like that an insurance company would baulk at?

  3. Makes sense.
I read somewhere that Ducati have added a caveat which specifically says that the full system is not road legal.
It’s all very well to say that your insurance company is fine with it, but it seems daft to not tell them the whole truth, as in the event of an accident , all the facts will be investigated and I doubt an insurance company would pay out a penny if they found out that you fitted a part that is specifically stated to not be road legal.
But I’m sure I read of a few people on here ignoring this anyway.
I guess it’s up to the individual.
