Afternoon all My name's Benedict but my friends call me Grunt. I live in Cardiff and have been earning a living as a courier since I left agricultural college at the end of the 70s. One day I hope never to grow up. I've just finished getting my '92 900SS back on the road after a two year lay-off (the bike, not me .... I'm afraid I ignored it while I had a flirtation with a 748SPS). I've treated the SS to some nice new JE hi-comps, a set of FCRs (39mm, which I may regret) and a complete head overhaul. Done about 100 miles since the initial finish and there seems to be a significant power increase at the sort of conservative throttle openings I'm trying to stick to for a few hundred miles. The oil light started flickering on at tickover when I got home from a quick lap of the Cardiff Ring this lunchtime but Bainsey advised cleaning up the switch contact before panicking and now the light goes out as soon as the starter begins turning .... could just be the oil cooling and thickening but I'll pretend to be optimistic for the time being. Eek! I think I'm going to fit an Ignitec ignition controler as whilst just backing off the timing a few degrees to avoid the dreaded pre-ignition seems to be working very well it also makes it feel even lumpier at very low revs. Watch this space for pleas for advice. I'm well happy to have found this new forum and hope that it attracts plenty of the knowlegable types from Ducatisti as soon as possible. Tara a bit Grunt
