Well I think I've found the perfect solution for the stock grips. Like many others I found the OEM grips a little skinny and quite harsh but I didn't want to cut them off and possibly do damage to the heating element underneath, so I've tried a few methods but the best and cheapest was a simple CRICKET BAT GRIP, approx £3.00 off ebay Not only does it feel 100% better (my opinion) but will also stop your stock grip from wearing as others have described. The heat comes through no problem too  Not difficult to fit but I took a few pics to show how I did it
My pro-grips have decided to fall apart and to be honest, I like making/ fixing stuff so this is a great idea!!!!! Maybe lock-wire them for that race look?
Good find! Can u post the e-bay link for those you have, they look a similar grip to the original, I can't seem to find any that look like that?
yup looks good enough to me, please post the ebay link please! (although I would argue a few here would balk at such simple solution and would want to spend loads more) anyone know how much it is to get the original replaced - andy u said that you sorted yours under warranty but did you get a quote ? bugs
Sorry, no. The Dealer never says how much the parts and labour are costing, they just replace it. I suppose because for them it is at cost. You could always just ask them how much a set of heated grips are... Not sure if you can just buy the grips themselves.
I fitted a pair of Grip Puppies, which are slightly softer and made of foam. They fit right over the standard grips. Heated grips still work the same. Have used them for 3,000 miles now, they definitely work and reduce soreness in fingers and palms on long rides. Many suppliers - Google Grip Puppies. I'm not saying other solutions may not be better, or cheaper!
I have grip puppies too, and I think it helps reduce the vibes a bit and helps with numb fingers. Got them from SportTouring
The grips are no longer on ebay but if you search amazon for READERS DELUXE CRICKET BAT GRIP - BLACK they do come up £5.50 posted
