Just wondered if anyone had some recommendations on what to replace the standard grips for, looking for something which provides a little more cushioning for the wrists but aren't some kind of sponges ! Using the bike mostly for track days at the moment with a bit of road use.
I have renthal super softs feel nice soft and grippy they wear fast but that's to be expected with soft grips.
Thanks for the recommendations, I've never fitted new grips to a bike, easy job ? How do they stay in place ?
I've just bought some pro grips dual compound but not fitted them yet. I've also used Renthal in the past which were good also. I think the pro grips suit the Ducati better tho. As to fitting them, it's a strange one but I've always used hairspray (the wife's obviously). Spray plenty in the grips and carefully on the bike handles (not all over the bike) and it helps to easily slide the grips into place. Once it's there leave it for a while and when it goes off it acts like a glue. Never had any probs doing it that way. Ben
Another vote for Progrips. Really excellent and better compromise between comfort and feel compared to the Renthals imho.
Ok think I'll get the Pro Grips then, where did you get yours from Hutch ? And are they 22mm the grips for an 848 evo, I'll be doing the R1 Throttle tube if that makes any difference ?
Ebay item # 400193031959.... Oddly it doesn't show the evo on the fitment list... Did the evo get different bars then?
^^^ That was the link I have open in EBAY already but it only shows 848 till 09 not the EVO ............ Can't imagine they are different though..........
These.... Universal Motorcycle Black Foam Sponge Grips For 7/8" Handlebars & Bar End Caps | eBay Feel a bit odd first of all, but ubber comfy. 3 days on track gripping like a school boy and no arm pump...
Don't get em wet though Nelson. Otherwise soggy hands for ages. Used to run those on my scooters. They're comfy.
Glue?? Mine arrived this morning sans glue?... Anyways if its crap I'm not bothered & I'll go with the tips above... One thing though, these grips are SOFT... Really nice & grippy as hell... I'm happy.
