It is a locknut, rather than shim, engine, which I'm told is the one to go for.. V711 = European mainland, model year '90/'91, 1127cc engine It came to me from Canary Islands via Madrid. Low mileage, apparently, given that you don't generally get to rack up huge mileages on islands in the Atlantic! There is absolutely no sign of any issue inboard of the cover that is worn though, everything looks absolutely untouched. It owes me £500, so that what I'm asking for it - eBay asking prices seem to be upwards of £800, so if you're looking to motorise your next project at a bargain basement price, please form an orderly queue!
After waiting for the buyer to make his collection arrangements, he has contacted me very apologetically to let me know his van's gearbox has had to have urgent, unexpected, pre-Christmas surgery that will obstruct his collection of the engine until some time in January. He is prepared to lose out if the engine gets swooped upon by some other who has need of it. Any swoopers?
I just remembered today that this is still lying around, so if anyone is actually interested, I've lobbed it here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154340142820?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
