After a wash a while back the temp gauge misted up/hard to read but dried out.Since then it's been a bit erratic but sometimes reads what i think it should.Anything to worry about?
Hi Old Fart. Is it the analogue dial that houses the display that can be set to show oil temp that is misting up? It isn't unknown for part of the speedometer or rev counter to mist slightly when the weather is colder & more damp than usual over here. Mine only does it very slightly, but I have heard of others (and other bikes - not all of them Ducatis) that also do the same. I've heard cures that range from opening up the unit & drying with a hair dryer (I think it's something that women have - hair & hair dryer!) to drilling a hole to let out water. I've never bothered with either as the misting is only ever very slight on my bike. If the oil temp display doesn't show the digits properly, and instead shows - - -. It may be worth checking the sensor lead is properly connected (found on the lower RHS of the engine). If it's anything other than the above, I'm stumped mate! Someone with more knowledge will probably be along soon.
Thanks rude old fart mate.Yeh the oil temp display misted a while back after a wash but the display functions normally with all the digits, but sometimes they are not the right ones you would expect from experience.Usually takes about 10k's(six miles?) of gentle throttle use for the LO to go and 50c turns up.Now sometimes the LO stays on for too long then will jump to 62c then back to LO and it just fluctuated all over.Went for a ride last sunday and it seemed to be working ok was worried it may go silly and shut the bike down.
