GT to buy or to wait? That is the question.

  1. Hi guys
Sorry I haven't been on for a while, things have been a bit hectic since I lost my job a few months back.

Any how I've finally got the money together for a new Multistrada S GT, but I'm contemplating now it's so late in the year, to not buy one until spring next year.

So I thought Id ask if anybody knows if there is likely to be any upgrades or changes to the 2014
Multistrada S Granturismo and if so what?

I asked a dealer earlier in the summer if they were going to offer the GT in better colours than grey and he side if you wright to Ducati they may start to offer it in different colours, but I'm not sure if he was taking the piss or not.

Also have the 2013 models been ok or do they still have problems that means there constantly in the dealers like the old models?

  2. No problems with my 2013 ABS bike. Its not a GT mind.

If i were you i would see what deals you can get from a dealer and if nothing looks worth a punt hang on until next year. Ducati seem keen to do good deals of either free extras or good finance on the Multi now and again.

  3. The free extras sound a good idea, I wont need finance, but I would like a proper tracker fitted and registered.

  4. I had a sensor issue on mine which was replaced and is now all fine! The GT is a great bike, I would probably wait until spring though if I were you! Unless a cracking deal comes your way!

  5. I went and saw a dealer about one a couple of weeks back, I don't think there are any changes from what I recall him saying. I have since decided to stick with my 2011 (7500 mile) Touring as I did not feel the changes described (Skyhook V Ohlins being the biggest one) was worth my bike and an additional 5k.

Oh yeah, and the Mrs has just blown 10k on a new kitchen!

My advice would be to wait and get a 14 plate(assuming you are going brand new), especially if you don't plan in doing much over the cold season.

  6. Buy it, you wont be disappointed. Could be a mild winter with plenty of opportunities to put some miles on the clock. He who hesitates etc.:upyeah:

  7. Tnx guys, I'm in the middle of getting planning permission for an extended porch so I can keep it in there I have no garage and live on a very windy and salty island in the north west, so My thinking is by the time the porch will be built the weather will be crap so not much point in buying her just to leave her in the porch, But if there's no upgrades for 2014 then the late deal my be a good option and keep her covered up in the porch for a month or to.

  8. Which wet and windy isle in the North West is that?

  9. Assuming your going for a new one, my advice would be to wait until 2014 if your not planing to get much use out of it in the winter. I would expect a minor upgrade, are there not changes every year? If not then they will be selling the same bike as 2013 and will feel inclined to offer free stuff.

I would also be inclined to go to another dealer.

  10. ...Couldn't wait any longer, picked my GT up today in the rain, what the heck it would of seen rain before long anyways!
My understanding is the 2014 model will have no real significant changes, so I bought mine and will ride it through the winter apart from when ice/salt/snow is on the tarmac.
I am expecting no issues with my GT as my previous multi (2011 model) had 5 call backs these have got to be sorted by now!
Buy now for a good deal, you even get a leather wallet.
Off to scrub my tyres in on friday/sat and sunday, yippee!

  11. nice stitching...

  12. No issues with my GT. Cracking bike. Best to shop around, I got a good deal on nearly new when i looked, no dealer was up for much of a discount on a new bike and i didn't want to run it in either.

Good luck with the hunt :)

  13. Happy days :D

  14. Gratz VJ69

But you shouldn't be putting posts like that in this topic, I'm trying to be sensible and your ruining it for my by showing me what I could have, Shame on you!

    So so soooooo....... tempting

  15. Got a GT and apart from the indicator issue no problems, only up to 1700 m, had a 2010 st previous that had the normal? problems. Looks like they have spent more time developing and testing this time.

  16. I got a new S Touring at the end of April. New accelerometer needed a couple of months ago and top right-hand fork seal weeping very slightly now. I day in the dealers so far for the former and expect one day for the latter when the seal arrives. 8,000 miles by the way. Great bike. Best I've ever owned.

I'm banking on a mild winter .... But it does have heated grips remember. Freezing hands always bother me more than anything! If the deal's good buy now I say.

  17. ....be sensible...by a shed for the bike which will be the same cost of planning/building regs for the porch.....get the GT..you only live once

  18. Wait til January, they'll be giving them away by then.

  19. yup, you have time to plan and get the dealers really keen - get prices, check brochures, haggle for extras like a full termi and carbon etc...then give the deal to one that gives u the best discount, consider far away places like Manchester or the wildlands of Scotland (if you based in London). Consider buying second hand/demo bikes to get the best deal but go for an S or GT, the new bike changes should be announced and launched in the EICMA show in Milan - October (next month) anyway. bugs

  20. ...crikey I'm exhausted reading that!.. why not draw up a spreadsheet, a program of works, schedule, bar chart, gant chart and a pie chart, method statement, risk assessment.....can't think of anymore, sorry. Seriously good luck with whatever you choose. I just go to my local dealer and say....I'll have that one:cool:
