ok as the title says, I want to keep it gt style, so do I try and find another tank and hope it's not warped?, or pay loads for an aluminium one if they will make it, any other options?
I think if you wash then out and leave them empty they go back. You can then treat as reqd. Have a google. RedMax do custom tanks for ducati's.
Redman do but they don't have anywhere to fix, or to fit the fuel pump, they are also sport classic style, I have found Kevlar sport classic ones in America for around $1500, but I don't want that style
Anything here that works for you? https://www.flickr.com/photos/redmaxspeedshop/sets/72157637089853224/ there are two different styles if you scroll down...
Remove and strip the tank of fuel pump and filler then leave in a warm spot for the winter and it should return to shape , then coat inside with caswell or similar. Is it a UK bike?
coating it on the inside has had mixed results, some saying it comes off, turns to seaweed substance, i am angeling towards the aluminium route, i have ordered another second hand tank, see what thats like first
Wish I could afford an aluminium tank . My tank had moved apart slightly from the mounting pucks on sides, drained and left in eaten spot last winter sorted it without coating .
I am not sure I can justify it yet, only working with a limited budget $2650 shipped then imperial duties, so looking at around £2500
