hello all. need a little help with my diagnostic software please. ive downloaded guzzi diag so i can plug into my 748. on the download page i selected the 15m 16m option. when i open the program , in the bottem left of the screen it shows ECU selected, i cant seem to change it to 16m??? i think its AWG 16M.. the selected option is showing AWG 15m only. am i doing something wrong?? forgive me if the letters in the ecu decrition are wrong, i havent got it in front of me.
Can't help you with Guzzi diag but I use scan ST 320 or 321 on my bike with the 1.6M ECU. It's also freeware.
one more silly question. sorry the diagnostic port on the 748. its the 3 pin plug on the left side of the seat subframe (if your sitting on the bike) next to the ECU?? its sealed with a black cap
afternoon all. got the diag working. thanks for all your help. i have a few question if some one can help. 1. what the idle speed ment to be? mine is around 1200 2.on guzzidiag, one of the option ive watched is C0 trim. my trim reads 0 even if i adjust it with the engine running. the engine note changes but the reading doesnt?? 3. my battery is charging at 13.4v at idle tested at the battery but diag shows 12.8? ive checked the normal rec wiring and plug etc, all ok 4.last one for now. at low revs, 2000rpm ish, the engine has a slight hicup. is this normal for a ducati?? i had an aprilia rsv which did the same and the dealer said this is normal for a V twin at low revs. i show say the bike has a full TERMI system and is fitted with an ARROW ECPROM chip. i appricate any help with getting to know my new bike.
The CO value is just an arbitrary number as the software has no way to read the CO value. You need a gas analyser to read the CO. It can be adjusted by trial and error by seeing what effect the change has on idle RPM. You are trying to achieve highest idle RPM possible. If you have a gas analyser (eg a Gunson) a CO figure of 4.5 is good.
is there a set value for the idle speed? i dont seem to be able to find it. even the manual doesnt have an idle speed setting.
The stuff I have found suggest 1000 to 1100 RPM. Also, does your bike have the IAW16 ECU? If so, then I believe the CO is set using a trimmer under the rubber bung on the ECU and not by using software adjustment.
@chrisw Probably a dumbo question here ..... I might even have asked it before ... What are the main differences between jpdiag and guzzidiag ? Are they more or less inter-changeable ? Thanks in advance
Guzzidiag is compatible with more ECU types and is unlicensed. IAWDiag was created by the author for Ducati use, again unlicensed. Guzzidiag and derivatives will only work with FTDI chipped cables. JPDiag is licensed and will work with a number of OBD cable types. Both do a similar job. Both are PC only. I also have Scan5mx and TuneECU on my Android phone using a Bluetooth ELM327.
