I bought this old bike at Spanish mainland and shipped it home to Grancanaria as project base. I manage to start the engine just to test but it need’s definitely a complete engine rebuild.
As I want better front suspension/brakes I swapped this for the biggest convencional not upside-down unit I found, choosing the CBR900RR unit. To be honest the swap was ridiculous easy, as the surprise was it share same same yoke and wheel shaft diameter as the the oem Guzzi unit ]
As I wanted wire wheel a searched for couple locally at the island, Asking around a friend of mine told he had a couple laying in storage from his uncles old California, selling me this for 250€, once I went to pick them up he asked “why you don’t take the rest of the bike as well”, When I asked for the price for the compleat Guzzi California he told 250€, so now I have one more Guzzi project waiting…
In my opinion the Guzzi looks great but their seat are fair to low, not charging no weight at front wheel as I’m use to. There for I disides rise the rear end jyst a litre to compensate this.
One thing I always wanted to make is build a bike with polished aluminium pieces, Next thing was getting an not expensive aluminium tank (AliExpress India)
Next step was giving the chassis shiny bright colour in the Canarian sun, for this I opted for read candy. I made also a space for a wider rear tire cutting and welding as you can see the swingarm.
As I made a brake upgrade at my R6, I I thought the 320mm Yamaha oem units was perfect for the Guzzi, To make them fit I design and made by cnc water cutting in SS disc adapters following the Guzzi oem look. Substituted the old rims with more wider units and SS spokes
