These appear to be ABS and pretty strong, but light........are they hollow inside or are they foam filled or summat? Thanks AL
From memory, (what else would it be from) yes I would say they are ABS and from handling it I would say hollow. 2 holes at each end for well nuts. Cheers Gaz.
Thanks Gaz....................that means I'm not cutting out a recess in it for my oil cooler (and I'm not moving my oil cooler lower down either) AL
Oh, thats what you were planning. I rememder reading somewhere that you could not swap the covers to move the oil cooler to the top of the cylinder if you had the cross brace installed, as you have found out. I must admit I was a bit dissapointed when I found that out. As you were. Cheers Gaz.
You can actually swap the covers around to mount the oil cooler in the lower position although the cooler has to be turned upside down. But as the cooler in the lower position is more likely to get damaged from road cr*p (there's plenty round this way) I will leave it in the higher position. I might use the brace as a pattern to make something else up or possibly even trim the brace around the cooler (it's about 20mm that needs to come out of the back of it) and because it will be thinner, mould a stiffener into it while the cut is open.
this thread indeed shows the extent of true British resolve where sanity is being tested due to adverse weather - may it run until the sun appears. (I think you might be right AL - my first thought was that it seems like it has foam inside but not sure how they'd do it so maybe it's trapped wind?)
