I swapped the hand guards and mirrors on my original 2010 multi. Ducati used to make mirrors with indicators in the tips and much more substantial harder plastic hand guards. I swapped because I commuted into London and broke about three of the standard hand guards when you had to replace the whole unit. Thanks for that - hadn't seen those guards. And I'm guessing the guards also don't stick out so wide each side? I''d hoped to lose the guards altogether but I think that would involve having new brackets fabricated for the reservoirs?
I can’t quite remember the fitting of the reservoirs. I know you can get small metal brackets for the Monster and Streetfighter which might fit. I think they were probably larger and stuck out as far. The advantage of these guards is how robust they were, much more like a BMW GS item, strong with some flexibility and they looped round to the end of the handlebars, much better than the 1st generation ones. I really don’t understand why Ducati don’t redesign the handguards to make them stronger. I guess they sell a lot of spares!
Thanks - yep agree. Aesthetcally, I like them - they are just going to get snarled up in (spirited albeit only occcasional) london filtering! Those brackets could get me back in the game - cheers for that. I've also just found a pair of those nicer mirrors you mentioned on ebay. Just before I make an offer on them, do you have the same ones on a 2015 - 2017 multi? And the electrics and fitment work?
I didn’t fit them to the newer Multi’s but I can’t see why they wouldn't fit and connect with the wiring. The only thing I found was the mirror was a bit smaller and not quite such a good view. They were still ok for me but might be worth considering in London traffic.
Thanks. Sorry I re read your post - yes I had 2010 multi too but cant recall it being so wide. I assume you meant 'I can't see why they wouldn't fit and connect?' re the mirrors?
