Hi guys and girls a question on your MTS. I find the multi very very comfortable accept one thing. The angle of the wide handlebars i find not quite ergonomic. I find that the ends could do with coming in toward the rider about an inch closer to give a more natural feel on the shoulders and wrist. Just wondering if any one else had issues with this and if any solutions have been applied? Regard Dave PlymouthBIkers
Why not try adjusting them them, undo the clamps and twist them towards you? I know some people have cut them down slightly
I used spacers - el cheapo style

I did this 2 years ago when I first got the bike. I posted this on another site at that time so here it is: I saw these things in a bike shop shop for AUD$30 (US Peso $29.98). They space the bars up and back but quite importantly give a lot more adjustment room to roll the bars forward and back without hitting the tank or screen. You will need to pull the pins holding the control clamps in position but these are not needed and are for factory assembly only. The clamps do the job by themselves. The guys in the shop let me take them out to test the hole spacing and whether they fit the bar diameter. these ones looked fine, so I bought them as an experiment. I have had many large "chook chaser" type bikes and I have habitually replaced handlebars with a higher bend or spaced them up and back a little. I prefer this mainly for back posture. They are unpainted alloy so they got 2 coats of black paint.

Report this image

They come with longer stainless bolts that look pretty good quality and have washers.

Report this image

Bolt right on in 4 minutes. Put a towel on the tank to protect it. Remove the 4 standard clamp bolts, slip the spacers under the bar, bolt on using the new longer bolts. No cable adjustment was necessary at all. Raises the bars 22mm (7/8inch).

Report this image

They don't exactly match the profile of the standard clamp but they are pretty close. You would not notice them unless you look hard.

Report this image

Nothing hits the screen or tank on full lock and there is heaps of clearance.

Report this image

Report this image

Before you finish, start the bike and check the cables are not pulled when the bars are at full lock left and right. I had to take the rubber cable strap off and adjust the throttle cables outside and below the cable bundle so the throttle was not opened by tension from the other control lines. The other thing I like is that I can now roll the lever clamps down a little more so the brake and clutch levers are more comfortable. I was prevented from doing this as the bottom of the clutch side would hit the tank of the angle as too low. The standard set up also stops you adjusting the bars by rolling the forward and back and now I can adjust this quite a lot without hitting the tank or screen. TimOz, I found a distributor for those risers but they were, unsurprisingly, in Oz. They haven't replied to my enquiry. Don't suppose you remember who you bought them from?
The only ones I can find raise the bars by 30mm. I wanted 22mm so there will be no issues with cable lengths. Can't seem to find them.
