Good morning all, I’m new to this forum but have had bikes for a long time.Passed my bike test in 1963,that’s right,1963 on a 1953 James Captain 197cc.Many many bikes later and a few falls,I’m still here. I have two Italian mistresses,Guzzi Le Mans Mk1,Ducati Strada 95/96. Good luck all, EnBeeDee
Welcome, you appear to have added your postcode to your profile. You may want to edit it out? Any photos of the Guzzi?
I too had a James captain 197 villiers engine, back in the day. Was it the one with the plunger rear end? My memories a bit sketchy going back to those days. Welcome to the forum. Great bunch of lads, full of interesting info! Enjoy.
Ahh yes, plunger back end.Mine didn’t seem to “plunge”at all ! Transferred everything from the original frame to a DOT trials frame with the latest “swing-arm” frame.A kind Gent from nearby simply gave the DOT bike to me.Said his Trials days were over.Good bloke.
Photos posted.photos/cameras are not exactly my forte,as three of the same shot illustrates nicely.Sophia (the Guzzi)has been with me for thirty-three years. She obviously has poor taste in owners.
Great to have you here ,i also had a Villiers 197, which was in a Francis Barnet ,as my first ever bike at twelve years old ,
