Evening all, As the title has anybody removed the xbrace from a 916 frame if so was there any noticeable change? I've a 1098 engine in my 916 frame and I'm looking at airbox designs again as I never really liked the fibreglass one I first made and it would be easier to make a nice fitting 2 piece airbox without that xbrace there, another possibility is to remove it and fit a single diagonal brace similar to the 999 frames which should retain the rigidity. Thanks Chris
I run a 1098 in a stock 996 frame. Many different viewpoints on the why and how’s with regard the airbox quantity. If I remember right Tom in Sweden has run many different options and concluded that it was negligible. However have a look on my group as it’s probably the biggest collective of conversions out there. With many and varied solutions and advice from many of the guys that have been there done it. https://www.facebook.com/groups/322365488613698/
Thanks, I don't do Facebook, may take a look via the wife. I know I can make an airbox that fits with the cross brace I've ran my current airbox for about 5 years and it makes plenty of power but it's a pain to refit when it's been removed so I want to go to a 2 part airbox for ease of fitment and it will look tidier and going to something similar to a kyalami design frame would be better or the simplest answer would be cutting the brace out but I don't know if that will create frame flex Chris
