1200 DVT Have You Serviced Your Skyhook Suspension ?

  1. What was involved and the cost thereof in servicing your front and rear skyhook suspension?
At what mileage interval was it performed?

  2. I was not aware you had to service the skyhook. It just works until it doesn't.

  3. Don't know anything about the rear but the 1st big service calls for a fluid change on the forks.

  4. Weird that oil sat in the earth crust for millions if not trillions of years, yet dealers say it only lasts a few years hmmmm.

  5. Depends if you're using crude in your suspension...

  6. Did the front on my enduro two weeks ago. Unfortunately due to it being electronic it meant a tank off as the plug is under it. The electronic piece of the suspension is non serviceable as I was told but a good cleanup, a change of oil and new bushingstransformed the front. Oil was black as hell. Did not have to change seals. Bike is almost three years old with 20000 km. Cost was 60 euro for the oil and parts and 60 for labor only as I stripped the bike myself and removed the forks. Had a set of Wilber’s on my previous GS and the was told to service them every two years or 25000 km whichever came first.

  7. About 15K shock and forks should be serviced as a general rule, or at least every 5 years.

  8. I'm about to do my forks at 23k, oil change and general sort out
my rear shock is away having a spring changed atm but I'm told that as my Sachs unit has a 15mm shaft theres no seal kit avalable unlike the 14mm ones so I'm only changing the spherical bearings in the mountings
