1200 DVT Hazards On At Start Up

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by MotoNik, Jun 27, 2019.

  1. Started my bike this morning without letting the dash do it's little start-up dance and had hazards on that couldn't be cancelled. Turned bike off, turned on again, let it do it's thing, started up, and all fine.

So I don't know whether it needs to go through a certain start-up procedure, or whether it's just some odd gremlin. Just wondered if anyone else has had the same thing?

  2. Not upto press, starts fine whether I let it do the screen start up or not.

  3. That's odd then. Thanks guys. One to keep an eye on.

  4. I had this on mine. Although slightly different situations. When riding along the hazards would come on and the generic warning light on the dash would illuminate. Hazards wouldn't cancel. When the bike was switch off and back it it stopped. Once moving would start all over again.

Deer looked at it and it was a loose hazard light connector in the left handlearning switch. They had seen it before and took 5 mins to fix. Might be worth checking the connector is good. Also if it happens again keep an eye out to see if the generic warning light also comes on.

    Hope his helps

  5. Thank you! Yes, the warning light was on, so I’ll definitely check that. Really grateful for your reply.

  6. No worries. Hope it all turns out ok.

  7. Out of curiosity, was the bad connection inside the switchgear, or buried in the loom? The loom looks like it disappears out of sight under the fuel tank, so doesn't seem very accessible!

  8. I wasn't at the dealer when they fixed it. I did ask at the time in case it happened again and I was lead to believe it was inside the switchgear. Can't confirm this but would be worth a look inside. From memory where the switchgear connects to the loom there is only one mutiway plug for the switchgear so I would have thought if that was loose there would be alsorts of issues with the dash, etc.

  9. Inside the switchgear would make sense, thanks.

Tried to open mine up today, but it’s screwed together with the smallest little Torx screws known to man, so I’ll need to dig around in the garage to find something suitable.

I’m actually wondering if it could be moisture related - I jetwashed the bike the other day, and I noticed there’s quite a big hole in the side of the switchgear where the cable comes out. It’s entirely possible it got a bit of a soaking.

  10. In the dealer today. Confirmed that the connector is in the left switchgear
