1200 Head Light Beam Converters

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by **Topher**, Apr 18, 2016.

  1. Has anybody got experience of using/fitting beam converters.
I've never bothered in thousands of mile through Europe as don't often ride at night but off to the Ukraine in May and hear the police like to keep a close eye on foreign vehicles.

  2. I think the headlight beams on mine are flat topped with no kick-up to the left, so no converters needed.

Point yours at a wall and double check it though, mine is a 2013 with the LED dipped beam.

  3. There is only one design of headlight for all European Ducatis. The days of a beam pointing to the left or right have long gone for bikes so nothing to worry about. Andy

  4. Thanks for feed back guys
And thanks for the link GunZ
Heading for Kiev .... want to do it in three long days from the Hook but think this may be a bit ambitious considering the border control and poor roads in Ukraine. Keep reading about purchasing insurance at border .. is this easy to do? UK companies wont touch it or breakdown cover!

  6. Topher, be careful out there, don't give the police an excuse to pull you over. A mate of mine who was going to Kieve to visit a friend, and was accompanied by his son as a pillion. Was following a string of cars late at night, but was singled out by a police car and pulled over for speeding. What followed was, if it hadn't been so serious, a bit of a farce. They accused him of speeding and showed him him some dodgy video, they then wanted him to pay a very large amount of money (in the thousands) as an on the spot fine, he said he didn't carry that amount of money on him, so they went through his wallet to check and spotted his credit card and said he should get the money from a cash point. To make sure he didn't do a runner they put his son in the police car and then lead him to a machine, my mate not being dull punched in the wrong pin, after a couple of these failed attempts the police gave up and decided to take the money that he had in his wallet instead, around 200 of their currency, then without any receipt or paper work let him and his son to go on their way.
The only problem then was, as he found out later, as he'd messed his pin up a couple of times, the bank put a block on his card, so he then had to borrow money from his mate he was visiting to get back home, so like I said be aware out there, this could have a one off or it could be rife ?
