Any advice on delisting headlamps and stopping it please, had the bike 11 year just stated happening this year
Is this for the 748-9** series bikes? if so this has been covered a number of times and a search should reveal some threads. Cleaning can be done with a small cloth dipped in methylated spirits, you will need to get the headlamp out and remove the bulbs etc. to do it. Stopping it happening again is another thing and I am not sure anything done is long lasting if it works at all.
First I thought you had lost a headlight, then that you were selling one on Ebay but didn't really want to. What is this thread about exactly?
It's moist air condensing on the glass, remove the bulb cover and leave it to dry, sunlight is good for this. Once really dry reseal the lamp assy. Ideally remove the lamp and leave it in a sunny window for a few hours If it remists it is either not sealed or not dry enough inside.
Only sure way is move somewhere where it doesn't rain ( Italy perhaps ) or don't ride in the rain... ST4's are notorious for doing this too...
it's actually a very fine fungal coating just a few stages before mold/mildew (honest) and once you remove it it won't return for 3 years or more. I can't find the thread that Red is talking about but basically all you need to do is scrub inner face of glass (I use an old toothbrush with brush end heated up and bent 90 deg) with warm water and a dab of w/up liquid before rinsing out with plain warm water and then either left to dry or dried quicker with careful use of a hair dryer.. Don't be tempted to scrub or wipe chromed face too much though as it can become matt or even detach from base plastic.
I find antibiotics work quite well for those very fine fungal coatings you talk about Chris!....or Canesten, maybe....:Wideyed: actually I remember doing mine a few years ago, but I remember using meths for mine - after removing them from the nose cone and all that malarkey....
Glad it worked for you David but personally wouldn't risk meths on chromed plastic from past experience particularly when something much milder works just as well.
