Picked up my 2013 Multi 1200 GT a couple of weeks ago and thought nothing was wrong with it till I noticed another Multi GT pass me in the opposite direction and it had 2 front lights lit up.........mine only has the nearside lit. I noticed it on the test ride and assumed it was the same as my old Zx636 where one light is lit for dip, 2 for full but did some looking online and saw all the 1200 Multi's has 2 lights lit. Thinking it was just a bulb popped back to supplying dealer only to be told it was an LED failure and can only be remedied by a new headlight unit....at £600....WTF !!! Ignore the wildlife, it tried to hitch a ride at about 95 but the light had failed before the test ride Questions 1. Anyone else had the same ? 2. Where do I buy headlight protectors for the new unit ?
Are you able to provide evidence that the headlight was defunct at the point of delivery ? If you can the dealer is liable. By law he is not permitted to sell an unroadworthy vehicle which with one headlight out it most csrtainly is. I'd also check with a diffetent dealer if what you have been told is fact. Talk to Craig on 01962 877998 option 1, if anyone knows he will. Andy
Apologies and I should clarify I was trying to find out if this was a common issue and not slate the dealer as they are funding the replacement light Free of Charge to me and didn't argue it at all. One of the sales staff even thought the lights were the same as I did (1 for dip, 2 for full) but he was from the non Ducati side of the business.
Okay, that's right and proper so a tick for your dealer. LED lights are relatively new so reliability data is rare. I don't have them on my 1200s but I do have them on my car and if they as reliable as my old Merc and its bixenon, I had one bulb go in 11 years. Andy
Thanks guys Sounds like mine is unusual then as I couldn't find anything on a quick search of the forum hence my posting the question
