V4 Headlight Protector

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Martin Newman, Mar 18, 2025.

  1. IME on a Multistrada 1200, each protector will be held on to the headlight by 4 small sticky backed hook and loop patches. One protector separated from the headlight within about 100 miles. CBA after that. Andy

  2. Have seen the 4 sticker type , not sure I'd run with that.
This V4 Puig item is definitely more like a PPF install , instructions advise to spray/soak headlight , apply protector and squeegy out bubbles .
Just interested if anybody had positive or negative experience

  3. I had them on my Aprilia RSV, they came with it. I never really gave them a second thought, looked good and stayed put.

  4. No, just some PPF on the headlights that came as part of the Tony James PPF kit I fitted to my PP

  5. The Puig option will not protect from a stone strike, its still going to break the lens. The ones I had maintained an air gap of about 2-4mm. In my mind they were sacrificial thus saving me a pint of my first born's in replacement OEM costs.

  6. I just think the items with a gap look a bit of an afterthought,, appreciate they offer more protection but also think the Puig or Tony James PPF type also offer something over doing nothing ,,, surely?
Also looks like with a TJ kit for another 90 quid you are getting a whole lot more including some headlight protection ,,, just worry about my fitting skills , PPF doesn't look easy !!!

  7. The Tony James kit is pretty comprehensive and not hard to fit. Just make sure the bike is clean and polished before applying... A heat gun/hairdryer is helpful too. Plenty of PPF fitting vids on Youtube

  8. I’ve had four multis and never fitted any protection to the headlights and never had an issue.

  9. Yeah, Horses for courses I suppose. I'm the same, Ive never personally fitted any headlight protectors but did have a set on my RSV courtesy of the previous owner; the chat went along the lines of "it's the thick end of a grand for a new set of lights etc etc etc", so it seemed a fair add-on. I won't be fitting any to my Rally, even though I got sconned in the coupon by an errant stone just t'other day!
