Headstock stand - MTS1200

  1. Anyone got one? Looking to get a headstock stand for the Mutley but although there's plenty of choice (e.g. eBay) it's not clear which if any will be ok for the MTS1200 i.e. height and reach.

I was chatting to an American owner who uses a T-Rex headstock stand...

...but there's no UK distributor. I beleive a 24mm headstock pin is required and that you have to take off the plastic shield under the lower triple clamp to use it. I guess you could drill a large hole in that and leave it on.

I have an Abba Stand and have a trick for lifting the front as well but I'd rather have a proper stand!

  2. I use an Easy Riser - takes a few minutes to set it up but once it's in the air, it's the dogs danglies.

  3. Thanks, looks a great bit of kit......can't make out from the photo, what are the support points on the bike? Front end, isn't the aluminium belly pan a problem?
Looking at the price, if I were to spend that sort of money I think I'd go the the Bursig Stand....

....but my wallet keeps telling me I have to resist!

  4. Cradles to riders footrests at the rear then goes under the horizontal cylinder at the front.

You do have to remove the side belly pan plate but it's only 3 screws.

As for price, yes they're not cheap but then I only paid £100 for mine!

Do like that Bursig one, not seen that before.

  5. Now that I do like - how much Andy?

  6. €419 plus shipping (not sure how much that would be from Germany, it weighs 12kg so a fair bit I expect). Very tempted, lot of money but great bit of kit.

    Thanks...........£100!....you jammy sod :D

  8. Looks ok - seems it takes a bit more effort than the Bursig to hoik it up in the air - I like the way they advertise free shipping then charge £10 extra!....

  9. Probably be easier if he held the handle right at the end tho' ?

  10. Thanks for the Envy link Steve........funny enough I did search for competition to the Bursig but didn't find them :weird: Did find a US company, again cheaper than the Bursig but VAT, customs fees and shipping would take it way OTT MotoMfg paddock stand Ducati

£60 saving on the Envy over the Bursig is not to be sniffed at! The more I look at these lift stands the more I'm coming round to the idea of the cost being worthwhile.....afterall you can keep them for ever and a day (by buying different fitting kits for different bikes) and if it's ever no longer needed I bet you could get a fair bit of the cost back on selling on. Time for some more research e.g. is there good reason for the Bursig being more expensive?

  11. The Bursig looks awesome, so stable, dont know if I could roll it down my drive without poopin meself though!! Envy looks good too, from what I could see, what a rubbish site for a good looking product, plug ins, daft music, etc, maybe an email needed!!
