959 Heat Shield Kit Off Ebay

  1. Don't care what anyone says it is ####ing hot when the ambient goes above 20c on this baby. I tried my own fix of wrapping the pipes and putting silver tape under the seat but it is still bloody warm once you get caught up in any sort of traffic. Any one tried this kit that is on sale? The Missenden flyer has a video about fitting it but does not say how it worked out other than just an initial ride. Any other ideas would be welcome as off to Spain in two weeks and expecting a very hot arse. Mentioned it at Motorapido and was told to just ride faster. Not so easy in the new forest at this time of year with the world and his girl friend stopping to look at every pony.

  2. Ride early morning - then you can go fast and do not need to stop.

I have no idea on the heat shield kit.. sorry.

  3. Steve,

I have a 1299 and understand your dilemma. I also have a full akra and its skimpy heat shield. Ive got to a point now where Ive managed the heat better. Firstly I used that proper gold refelctive stuff from demon tweeks on my heat shield and under my seat. Secondly, and as far as I am concerned the most pertinent, is the sub frame. Its bolted directly to the vertical head. It gets feckin hot. After a recommendation on here from @Topolino, I bought carbon subframe covers from liebspeed(damned good quality gear) :-

    http://www.lieb-speed.eu/product_info.php?info=p380_subframe-covers-panigale-1299.html (I assume a 959 is similar)

They also do a heat tape that sticks to subby under the cover.

Now, this does not mitigate it entirely, but it is more manageable once temps >30°C

I note ducati spacers also do something similar as Ive had an email from them about it.

Im considering ceramic washers to place between head and subby, but the bolt would just act as the short circuit for the heat conduction. Theres also the peirobon subframe.

Anyhoo, for me the subbie is the main bugger. I also leave on engine plastics.

Good luck and spread those legs now and again.

  4. Titanium bolts with the spacers would help - titanium is not as good a conductor as steel - but you would need to check it could withstand the torque and load.
