V4 Heated Seat Too Hot?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Luke Nelson, Dec 28, 2022.

  1. Is it just me, or is the heated seat ridiculously hot? I was riding yesterday in 32 degrees Fahrenheit with jeans and my one-piece Aerostich. After about 10 minutes on the "low" setting, the seat becomes uncomfortably hot--like hot enough it might cause burns if I sat there long enough. Is anyone else experiencing this? I told my dealer when I took it in for the first service yesterday, and they looked at me like I was crazy.

I've only owned the bike for about three weeks, and this is the coldest yet that I've tried it. Before yesterday, I thought perhaps it was only intended for colder weather. This just doesn't seem right to me.

  2. It's normal.

Well, when I say normal, I don't actually mean normal because it's not normal but it's normal for Ducati normal. So yeah.

If what you're saying is "is it like this on others?" then yeah, It's the same hot heat on all V4's with heated seats, most reviews state it too.

  3. I agree, I had quite very cold winter day rides with the low setting but off after about 10 minutes riding I have to turn it off, even with heavy well padded winter trousers on you still feel the heat. I always thought I was never cold enough when winter riding to need a heated seat, and now I have one, I feel exactly the same.

  4. I can't help but say this does sound like a first world problem....

  8. It makes up for the decidedly mediocre heated grips.

BMW have grips that can be set to 3rd degree burn.

  9. Can you switch the wiring terminals to make it run backwards and cool?

  10. I tried that with the microwave. It doesn’t work. I do know however, that if you plug a toaster into a photocopier, bang, you’ve made yourself a fax machine.

  11. Hey ho. I'll do what I did with my previous Multi - wait for them to fail (which they probably will ;)) then, put the Oxford heated grips on.

  12. I’ve just bought a heated seat and fitted it today, my problem was it did not warm up at all, I presumed it was plug and play but doesn’t seam so. The heated seat settings are on the dash which shows two settings and a off option. Any ideas please?

  13. Sounds like the heated seats have to be enabled by a dealer just like most of the other "electrical" accessories - e.g. heated grips, aux spot lights, keyless filler cap.

  14. A mate and I fairly recently went to a Honda dealership event where we got caught in torrential rain on the way home. He was moaning about rain running down his arse crack and being wet. I laughed and said I couldn't tell if mine was wet or just sweaty.

  15. Mine was fitted by the dealer when it went in for its first service and I can’t feel it warming at all on either setting

  17. The software to operate the seat is extra as it takes 8hours of Labour to program the software.

  18. He won’t have anything left in the wallet after the dealers bummed him for the software flash.
