Kind people, Greetings from Macedonia, I am new here and in need of Advice. Should I exchange my gsxr-r 750 with yoshi r55 slipon, k n filter, braded lines, never dropped, 35.000 km, for Ducati 1098 red 22.000 km i think everything stock, looks superb with recently changed clutch, etc etc. And i should pay 600 eur more. Any of you ever owned 1098 how's the reliability what should i look out for, one compares to the other. Thanks The 1098 that i want to buy and my Gsx-r The ad for the Ducati DUCATI 1098 Thanks.
Nice comments thanks you guys, dont quite understand taking the piss, rip his hands off, you british people have a way with words What is the top speed of the 1098 will it hitt 300km/h and my gsxr has 153bhp comapred to 160 of ducatis will it be that bik of a difference? I have driven the same ducati twice maan veryy uncomfortable, and i remember that onece in open road i hit the rev limmiter without notecing. Not the screaming engine like my gsxr. And i know that this is a silly and stupid question, but what is the fuel compsumption comapred to my gsxr? Thanks agin guys.
Having previously owned a 1098... Reliability is not an issue, provided you stick to the maintenance schedule. The standard seat is slippery and you slide forwards into the tank on bumps. There are replacement seats that improve this. I used the DP neoprene race seat. Much more comfortable, much grippier. On fast roads in Spain along with a GSXR-1000, fuel consumption was equal to within half a litre at fuel stops. Expect the Ducati to be a slower-to-turn bike than the GSXR, but to be more stable once leant over. Getting the rear wheel off can be a bastard...
Actually i do own gear and do ride with gear I am the guy in the red Alpinestar Suit and Shoei helmet I thought that the Duc will be much easier to turn at corners, i have ridden the Duc, and it really does feel more agile and lighter and much more balanced then my gsx-r. About the maintenance schedule, how often shoul a clutch and timing belt be changed? And what does a regular maintenance in a Ducate mean, i changed oil, oilfilter at 5000 km on my gsxr and inspect the valve clearance every 15.000 km or someting. Please do tell. Thanks. This guy with the red suit also
Okk let me mention a few things. The ducate once it blown a fuse. Then the speedo went all nuts and stopped showing speed. Then the fairings once opened. And i remember one time i tried to start it but it had a triangle in the middle with the exclamation mark and it did not wanted to start turned off the ignition and turn on started and the bike started. Any of you had the issues
replace all the fuses, the original ones are cheap and break easily due to vibration the eobd "!"engine could be lots of things, there will have been an error code on the dash, you might still be able to see this if you scroll using the left 'mode' button. this might give you a clue as to the cause of the problem fwiw it sounds like you should unplug all connectors and check for corrosion
Well at that moment i wasnt familiar with the Ducati, next time i go and take a look at the bike if it does that thing i will see to find the code. As i searched the forums many of 1098 had the same problem and nobody found the problem, strange i find it.
Nicely put sentience this is. Tough choice. However i feel like I have been cheating on you guys. I did tell to some of my friends that i opened a topic on a ducati forum weather i should exchange my bike and they said well of course they will say do it that is a ducati forum. So what i did is open another topic on a other suzuki forum And let me post some of the comments from there.
Guys thanks for the advises, I should update the situation, i did not get the Ducati, the reason, the guy got greedy, first the deal was, 550, then we made a deal of 600 euros, and then i stretch it to 650 euros, and then the moment we were to swap the bikes and do the translating to our names, the guy asked for 700 euros and I to pay the expense of the notary, that really set me off, and i gave him my final offer off 600 euros, he refused and sold the bike for 6500 euros. A very stupid thing to do, but it is what it is. Oh and yeah the bike had 30.000 km on it, kind a lot of km for a Ducati. I am disappointed to be honest sort of felt in love in the Ducati, but to be honest I always wanted a Panigale, so maybe in a year or two will buy a Panigale. Looking forward to that
