Hello from a new old boy

  1. Good evening to you all,

My name is Gerry and I found this site a day or two ago, it has taken me until now to work out how to post this message. God knows how long it will take to get one of those little pictures going.

Despite my user name there is not much "boy" left in me, however I enjoy riding and looking after my bikes, I have a 996 on the road and a 998 as a track bike, I also have a Norton Commando (it`s been offf the road for a few years) and an NSU Quickly for local shopping! I also have a 1974 Honda G5 250cc twin that I took in part exchange when I sold my 1960 Triumph Tiger 110 recently, it has little to recommend it and sits in the corner of the garage rusting away.

I`ve had a few bikes in my time (67Years) but the Ducati is my first v-twin and I love it. It took a few miles to get used to though but a trip to the Nurbergring it a good way to get to know it.

I look forward to taking part in the forum although I don`t understand much of the computor speak and admit that I am struggling to come to terms with it all. Anyway, I`ll give it a go and see how it works out.

    Regards, Gerry.

ps. what the hell is a trackback, a URL and a tag?

    Regards, Gerry.

  2. Welcome. Dont worry about all the technical gubbins, you'll be posting all manner of crazy stuff in no time. A URL for example is just internet address. www.ducatiforum.co.uk for example is a URL and so is, oh actually better not post that one, I'll mention www.google.co.uk instead
A tag is a common word or phrase that can be used to search for similar topics. Any word can be a tag, but Ducati, Superbike, 1098 are suitable examples
No idea what Trackback is, but it sounds like a 'get the kids into work' program

  3. Welcome

Phew I'm not the oldest here

  8. Hello Gerry :upyeah:

  9. Hi Gerry. Trackdays at 67 - great stuff. Well, that's brightened my morning. Having not been on track for 10 years (time and money and house) I was thinking that by the time I ever got any time or money back it would be too late. Apparently not!

Don't worry about Trackbacks. They are sort of links to other blogs or sites or something. I don't know how they work really, but I know I should. It is, though, easy enough to post on here without understanding anything more than you already appear to, since you have started a thread and made posts.

If you want to add pictures, best is upload them to Photobucket (Google it) and paste in the link. Very easy, free and takes almost less time to do than it does to explain.

    Welcome.

  10. Welcome GB :upyeah:
