The UK forum seems to be considerably more active than what I've found in the US, so here I am--hello! I purchased my first Ducati about three weeks ago (Multi V4S). I've been riding for about 12 years. So far I've owned: 2007 Honda VFR 800 2010 Honda VFR 1200 2005 BMW K1200S 2013 BMW K1300S Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 ...and the Ducati. I made the switch because I wanted something more comfortable for longer journeys, and I was very impressed with the fit and finish. I'd previously considered a KTM SAS, but my local KTM dealer is heavily dirt-focused, I wasn't sure I'd get the support from them that I'd expect, and I was uncertain about KTM's long-term build quality.
