Evening all! Just signing up to this forum as it seems the place to be! I’ve always enjoyed forums such as 911uk and m3cutters for my cars so thought I’d give this one ago for bikes. I’m a mechanic by trade and had lots of bikes. I’ve just sold (tonight) my gsxr1000 which I’d owned for 8 years and am on the hunt for its replacement. My dads also a biker with a gsxr1000 and a 916 which I use every now and then. My grandad owned the 916 from new before leaving it to my dad. This is the bike that started the motorcycle obsession for me and I still love riding it today. Due to my love for the 916 I’m on the hunt for a 1098 (if anyone knows of any for sale let me know), although I’m yet to sit on one let alone ride one! Anyway- long first post, hello forum!
Depends if the wife sees this Up to 7k max but 6-6.5 would be ideal. As mentioned I know which end of a spanner to use so doesn’t have to be perfect and I have a track day lined up with my dad and prob a few after that so a mint garage queen isn’t necessary... but we will see what I find.

Hence why it's worth waiting for an 1198 for that money - especially if you're tracking it - stronger bottom ends
Oh really? I’d looked at that on eBay and thought it looked good for mileage etc but may hold out for something with an aftermarket exhaust already.
Must admit I’d not really searched 1198s assuming they would be that much more expensive- and getting a good example would be difficult. I need to go and look at a few and see what they are like in the flesh at my budget. Cheers all!
