Hi, aging juvenile here. Back on a Duke after a 20yrs separation. Last one was a Darmah 900SD which evolved into a MHR Look-alike. Sold in '96 and is now completely restored by the new owner with whom I have regular contact. No motorbike since then until my ST3s ABS arrived a couple of weeks ago. I actually went to the showroom to buy a BWM - tested it in the morning and the Duke in the afternoon. By the time I got to 3rd gear on the Duke I decided I wasn't old enough for the other one ;-) I started riding well below legal age on my brothers Velo's when he was at work, either a 500 Venom or a 250 MAC(?). Passed my test on my 18th birthday on my first bike, an Ariel Leader. Later bikes in my life: BSA ZB34 Gold Star - Honda CB72 - Yamaha 175 (while serving in Malaya, as it was then) - Honda FT500 - Honda 400 4 then the Darmah. In the "quiet" years I was privileged to ride a friends R1200RS and a 1098, on which I knew one day I would own another Duke. I was a member of the DOC and Italian Owners Clubs of long ago and had a good share of IoM TT's and Shaftsbury V-Twin rallys. I've joined this forum because I have enjoyed reading everything so far and I have a question which I will post in the ST forum later. I wish you all dry roads Edits omission
Thanks all. Big brother put motorcycling in my blood since I was this high and no sign of it waning yet. Incidentally he had a Duke 200 Sports once but I was not allowed to go near it. I remember it had clip-ons and a beautifully shaped tank and graphics but that was in the days of Corker helmets and I don't want to show my age, well not too much :flushed: Edits typo
Welcome from this part of France. Also have an ST, but and ST2, and an 848 and an old 1967 250, which I can't ride yet as I have not got it French registered at the moment.
