Multistrada 1200 ABS 2013/14 Hi Everyone Good Afternoon Ducati Forum Thought I would say hello and ask and couple of questions, hope that’s ok. Last week, I purchased my very first Ducati, I’ve always been a Honda guy since I started riding in the seventies ( Honda SS50 ) but finally I decided to give Ducati a try. In December I sold my beloved CBR1000Fand started looking for something more modern and up-to-date. After road testing the bikes I thought I would like (KTM 1290S, 1090S, Honda Crossrunner and the Crosstourer, BMW GS1200 WC, Ducati multi 950) I arrived at the Multistrada 1200 and in particular a 2013/14 model. I tried an S version and did not like the (well for me anyway) lack of feeling from the front end, but found the standard ( None S ) version much more communicative. So im the very proud owner of a low mileage, dealer serviced 2013/14 1200 ABS dual spark (Not the S version) with a touring pack, top box, heated grips, and a small crash bar. She’s beautiful!! And I hope it’s just as beautiful to own. So, to my questions… Can anyone help me with a pdf version of the owner’s manual? (Remember it’s a none S version) And hopefully a service / maintenance manual. Does anyone have a list of the common areas ( I guess I can’t say faults … smile) I need to check or update. I’ve read something about wiring loom issues and rear light problems but a list or some advice from actual owners would be brilliant. Also can anyone help with a basic setup ( starting point ) for the suspension, in terms of comp/rebound and preload for front and rear. ( remember it’s a none S version ) please. This week I have sorted out the floppy / wobbly rear tail section and indicators ( thank you to the forum for ideas ) and installed a power feed for the Garmin Navi. Also made some very thin plastic spacers and installed them in-between the passenger rear foot peg mounts to stop them rattling. Im originally from the UK ( Somerset / Dorset ) but currently living in Germany I’ve contributed quite a bit on different Honda forums over the years, so hope to learn and do the same here !! Kind Regards
Welcome along I went up in terms of resistance/ strength on both the front springs and rear shock then had it professionally set up calculating sag .Not much use to you but I had it done at Reactive suspension near York by Gareth who knows his onions. I have a manual which I will try to send you but advance warning my skills with tech are limited All the best
Thankyou guys Chizel….I think she is pretty....smile. My wife saw me looking at the 1260 in the dealers and said... you are going to try a used older one first aren’t you ????. So that's what im doing. It’s my first Ducati and first experience with the brand. Nodrog.. if you can let me know what the base settings are it would be a real help, but understand if it’s too much for you to do. When I collected her the rear preload was wound in tight. A manual would be great and might actually give me the standard setting. Carl
As long as you like it is all that matters.. I'm not keen on the looks at all but I know from being on a few ride outs with em, they are a fantastic bike and do things you wouldn't think possible on a bike of that style..
So... quick update. I have just found a post quoting the basic front/rear suspension set-up. Front::: STANDARD adjustment values are: compression: 1.5 turns; rebound: 2 turns. Spring preload: FULLY OPEN (counterclockwise). Rear ::: STANDARD setting; from the fully closed position (clockwise) loosen: adjuster (1 - rebound) by 9 clicks; knob (2 - preload) by 0.71 in (18 mm) (max. 0.71 in (18 mm) - min. 0.98 in (25 mm)); adjuster (3 - compression) by 1.5 clicks. so that's where I will start tomorrow and then look at the sack settings with me on and adjust from there. and that might explain why the front feels soft if its currently set fully out ( pre-load ) Carl

Thankyou, I had to look at quite a few to find a good one and was very fortunate to get one with the extra I would have had to purchase extra. Just happened to ring the dealer on the perfect day... as he had just received a call from the owner saying drop the price and sell it. So I was doubly lucky. Plus we managed to get new scorpion 2 trail tyres, new chain set and the demo service included.. after some hard hagling.
