  1. Hi everyone, my name is Rob. I've been riding for about 6 years now. In my short motorbike career I've had a fair few bikes starting with mk1 SV650 through b1h zx6r, 2001 R1, 2016 Z1000 and I've just part exchanged my 2015 Fireblade SP for brand new Supersport. I think I've had enough of stupidly powered bikes (altho most peeps say there is never enough power) and I've always wanted to own a Ducati. Perhaps Supersport is not The Ducati I've always wanted but as I've grown out of thinking that superbike is the only way forward I think I'll adjust quickly. I've had about 500 mile round trip to and around Belgium last year and Blade was gr8 but my knee nearly died. That made me think I'ts time for something a bit more comfy but not quite touring since I'm planning a few days trip around snowdonia and lakes this year. Not that many options out there and Supersport made the most sense to me. My friends say I'll miss the power which is probably truth but soon enough I'll get used to having less power and I'm sure I'll enjoy being able to use throttle a lot more. So the Supersport I've ordered is a base model in red. I was going to go for the S but I got a gr8 deal on the base model and dealer has thrown in a quickshifter and passenger seat cowling in so I'm only missing Ohlins. Not really that bothered as I don't do track days and I'm sure stock suspension will cope with what I need it for. One think I'm still considering is a full Akro system (Akro end can doesn't sim to make a lot of difference) but it's nearly 2k. Looking forward to chatting to you boys and girls!

    Kind regards, Rob

  2. Hello, congratulations. I have just as much fun if not more on my 130bhp R6 as I do on the 200bhp Panigale :)

  3. Not sure what the point of the Akro is. Makes the bike ugly, lose the rear footrests etc. It makes no more usable power than the standard engine. You saved a bit of money because you got a deal then why would you consider throwing away £2000 on that? If you wanted more power then you should have looked at a Pani 959 perhaps.
The Supersport is great, I love mine, and it has more than enough power to get me into trouble.

  4. The only reason is Loud pipes save lives ;)

  10. Welcome and enjoy

  11. I am sure that they do, but if safety is your main concern then perhaps riding bikes is dangerous.
If there were decent loud pipes available for the Supersport that did not make a beautiful bike into an ugly one then I would want them too. There is the much nicer than Akra, Competition Werkes system, but not sure that would be legal or get through an MOT in the UK. I am in France where there are no MOTs on motorcycles, but I will wait till a similar system appears on this side of the pond.
