Hello From South Wales

I’ll introduce myself. I’ve been riding bikes for 50+ years and never ridden or owned a Ducati. I’ve had several bikes but I tend to hang on to them, the exception being a Road King which didn’t really suit me. I’ve rebuilt bikes and restored a car and enjoy the mechanical side of vehicle ownership. I’m looking forward to getting my first Ducati as soon as Covid19 allows and I’m considering a 999 and a 1098 just for hooning around the lovely back roads of South Wales. Handling, performance, looks and sound are all important. However, as soon as I’ve decided on a 999, I change my mind and vice versa and I would welcome all input from the forum regarding comparison of both bikes.
I currently ride a KTM 1290 SA, which is a keeper.

It says "where are you from". Have you ever had a 999 or a 1098 or both? If so what are your views on the bike(s)
