Hi everyone, Been a long time fan of all things Ducati. My first bike was a base 749 that I bought in California back in 2005. Loved it to bits, but due to the changing times had to sell it and move on. Now that I am in my 40s, the Ducati bug came biting back, and during Covid, with lots of time to spare, I slowly started building up a collection of Ducatis (mostly sport bikes) that I always wanted. I am based in Singapore but also own a residence in Delhi, India, so my collection is spread across both cities. I will post some pics of my bikes and love to get the bouquets and brickbats from forum members.
I did go a bit overboard with my bike purchases. Thankfully my Mrs is supportive else I would be homeless. Currently own the following 999 Biposto, 1098S, 1198SP, 848 Evo Red, 848 Evo Stealth, 1199R, 1299S, V4S, V4SP, V4R, V2 Bayliss, Hypermotard 950. Have a KTM RC8 1190R, MV F4RR and Brutale 1090RR - but this is a Ducati forum so those shall be ignored. Not a big fan of Japs, but do have a soft spot for the YZF R1 and old school Kawasakis.
That’s a proper collection of bikes! Got to be a nightmare ferrying them all to the dealer come service time?!
9 times out of 10, I choose the 1098 to ride over the RC8. It's a lovely machine, but a lumpy beast. The fit and finish are not on the same level as Ducati, the instrument panel was designed by someone on acid, and the engine is extremely unrefined. The WP suspension is really bad. You can feel every bump ricochet into your skull. The fairings and engine panels are too plasticky. If you line up both the 1098 and RC8 you can see the build quality difference. But the bike is a proper hoon. Mine has a the Competition Werkes exhaust and it wakes up the whole neighbourhood. If you want to draw attention, this is the bike to have.
Thanks for the info, much appreciated. I’ll stick with my 1098 for now but a mate has his heart set on the KTM. I’ll pass on the info to him (though I doubt he’ll change his mind).
Thank you very much. I have been following several threads and understand that Ducati pics should have bins. I made sure to capture Singapore's blue recycling bins in my first pic.
I sure do. Have 3 favourites. 1. For all day riding in town and highway fun - the Hypermotard. I simply love this bike. Too bad the seat is horrid and my derriere goes numb after one hour (got a Tappezzeria comfort seat cover as remedy) but the bike is just bonkers. Its the Swiss army knife of Ducati. 2. For track - the 19 V4R. The engine, the clutch, the gear shifting, everything about this bike is sublime. 3. For road envy - 1098 / 1198. Man, there is something about the 848/1098/1198 series.
agree about the Hyper, i'm too old for all that banana shaped, no location on the seat stuff, forcing you to work harder with arms and legs etc. A male novice could severely damage their jewels on a first ride.
My jewels get a weekly roasting - both Singapore and Delhi are not the coldest of locales. I spend a lot on aloe vera.
