Hello all. I'm not (yet) a ducati owner. But it's close. Had numerous bikes of all varieties, the usual suspects. But most fin I ever had on 2 wheels was a suzuki tl1000r, their vtwin. So much character. But I have been without for about 7 years now, and it's Time to get back on 2 wheels. I've always wanted a 999, but the service schedule puts me off as I don't have a bottomless pit of cash. So had a look at the panigale range and quite like the 1199 and 1299. Which are within budget. My understanding is the servicing was better on these as they switched to chains as opposed to belts? On another note. I'm happy to do the servicing and any belt changes myself, plenty of literature available. , but does anyone know if there is a beginners night school course for maintaining bikes? Or anyone who runs servicing courses? (Essex / London area) I'd quite like to be self sufficient for regular services, but would still take to a garage for things like valve clearances. Best wishes all. C.
Carl I wouldn’t worry too much about belts they are no problem unless you leave it too long without getting them checked. Good luck in your search for a nice Ducati.
