Hey so I swopped my 96 Foxeye Fireblade yesterday for a 1000ds First thing to fix is missing left front fairing, I have scoured eBay but can only find right side Does anyone have one know where I can get one ? Any help very welcome also what are the most common upgrades ? Cheers Dave
The left side fairing, that's the battery cover right? You'll be lucky to find one of those, they're rare as the commonly fell off due to the dzus fastener not being secured correctly. They do crop up occasionally on ebay, you just have to keep a look out for someone breaking a bike and be quick!
Yes battery side Have got plans for it going forward and have seen people move battery/fuse box in to air box or under seat so may just ride it with out lol
Check your frame has had the recall done - they sometimes snap at the back (the portion that holds the exhaust up). Beware of your tank swelling too - I kept mine under a cover outdoors, and in the year I owned it the swelling got progressively worse. Oh, and don't use a power washer on the digital dash, they don't like water!
Re: fasteners of the left-hand panel, loathe to criticise Ducati but this really was a poor idea because even when correctly attached there is a greater than 50% chance that it will still detach all on its own at some point (hence the scarcity of these panels of course) The only safe thing to do (for me) is to put a tiny hole in the lower front face out of sight, and then run a tie wrap around the oil cooler hoses. I expect a few experts will be along soon to “correct me”, at which point I will shut up.
It certainly had a mind of its own flinging itself off randomly welcome into the mad house newbie Don’t forget pics of your rubbish bins we like them and it keeps me happy
