Bought a Factory Racing clutch slave of ebay. Watched some vids of the work and went to do mine today, only my salve is not like the ones I've seen videos of. There's no washer, instead a plastic part and the push rod has another smaller rod passing through it at right angles. Needless to say the new slave cyl won't fit. Do replacements exist?
Yours is the new slave which has an anti rotation peg in the push rod. It is to prevent the push rod from spinning and damaging the seals. Oberon do a replacement. Ducati Clutch Slave Cylinders
Thanks Derek. I have a problem with leaking (fluid goes black) but damned if I can see any seals. Are there supposed to be o-rings in there?
No. The seals are all inside the slave cylinder. The fluid on just about all Ducatis goes black, it's reckoned to be caused by the heat from the engine. If your clutch is otherwise fine just change the fluid more often.
I also lose throw on the lever until its wound all the way out, then changing gear becomes an issue. Its due a warranty replacement but I thought I'd buy this one for a lighter action as well as less hassle taking bike to dealers. guess it'll have to go back.
Sounds like the clutch system is leaking/drawing air. Best to get the dealer to sort it if it's still in warranty.
