Ok I know it’s a 916! I’ve just picked this up which has been stood in someone’s garage for 10 years. I’m going to get it back up to scratch with new fluids, belts flush through the fuel system etc. my question is around the wheel colour and a few other parts. The wheels look more orange/gold than other 916 I’ve seen. They don’t look like they’ve ever been repainted and on closer inspection they have the old cagiva logo on them as has the filler cap. I was planning on getting them repainted as I thought they were the wrong colour so thought I’d ask here before I paint the wheels what I think is the right colour when actually they already are!!! Any help or advice is much appreciated. cheers
Very nice bike ! From my understanding , the wheel colour matched the frame. So the gold wheels were the same as the gold frame, and on the later bikes the wheels were the same colour as the grey/silver frames. Also it’s a Bip with a mono seat on it rather than a pukka mono. Enjoy your new purchase
here is a poor photoshop of the correct colour wheels on my bike (which has had the wheels painted black). As you can see it’s a much closer match to your gold frame.
This post has some photos which show what the wheels should look like, the gold is not really gold but as already stated it matches the frame https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/gold-3-spoke-brembo-front-wheel-748-916-st2-st4.88709/
Thanks all, looks like I’m now on the hunt for the correct colour code, which from a brief search in here is not as easy as I thought!! cheers, yeah I knew it was a biposto, the guy gave me the original tail unit, pillion pegs, exhaust and mudguard….not that I’ll ever use them
Lovely, once the wheels are repainted please get rid of those bling bar ends as they look dreadful in appearance.
It’s quite a difficult colour and finish to replicate, they are more Matt finish than satin or gloss. These guys did a few Resto’s for John Hackett. https://www.rage-designs.co.uk/ragedesignsstory
