Hi guys, I've had an absolute stinker while about to fit the spacer of the quadlock stem mount....the spacer came off its thread and fell down the steering stem tube. Tried to reach in with a long screw driver but no luck. Have I absolutely stuffed it and is it going to be an epic take-apart job at a dealer to get it out? Absolutely fuming with myself.
Bluetac or gaffa tape turned over on itself on end of screwdriver (assuming the dropped part is not magnetic - if it is use a magnetic retriever).
Steering stem is hollow. Your missing part has dropped to the bottom and can be released by looking underneath and removing the small oval plastic cover. Item 8 in the pic. https://www.bike-parts-ducati.com/d...gale-V4-1100/STEERING-ASSEMBLY/554/2304/0/554
I have a tool that is an extendible magnet on a long metal tiny bar. Dunno where you are but you are welcome to borrow. Can't remember where I got it but these things are probably available from any good tool shop. An essential addition to any toolkit!
Mate I'll be in Chepstow later this week so if I don't have any luck I'll take you up on that please!!
As always massive help from guys on the forum! Very jealous if you're around Hereford area, good roads in nearly every direction, and the toughest of the tough train there, if you get in the shit!
