Hello all, a few months ago I bought a 2011 Monster 796. Great ride, love the bike. I am the second owner - bought it from a dealer after the original owner traded it. Now i'm stressing out as I've exhausted all avenues to locate the original owner to obtain the Code Card. The original ducati dealer does not keep a copy of the card. All I have are the two black keys (no red key is supplied with this model). My local Ducati dealer advised me the only solution is to replace the key/ignition set and the dash for a substantial cost. Can anyone tell me, other than creating additional keys, what are the other functions/uses of a Code Card? Can anyone recommend other cheaper alternatives to get around the missing card? Appreciate any feedback. Thanks
Yeah its an immobiliser & ECU code card which will match the two components together along with the dash. Dont panic, if something goes wrong you can have dashes/ECU's reflashed or even immobilisers removed. If it went wrong anyway you would end up with a bill out of Warranty so it makes bugger all difference. Back in the day when these things were new the software was not available to reflash/recode etc but now it is. The same with the Keys, can be cloned. Dont worry, its common, just go ride your bike. If its an IAW5AM ecu its easy to disable the immobiliser, or if it's got an IAW59M ecu you can reset and disable the immobiliser, using 15 quids worth of cables and 100 euro software.
