Hey I’m Wayne from Alresford in Colchester England I haven’t got a bike yet but I’m hoping to get a 2005 749 dark and need some help on what to look for as in do’s and don’t on a Ducati any help would be appreciated
Welcome dude - why the Dark? Colour preference? They were the budget model of the day, still fab bikes though...
Welcome wayne, do wash-n-dry the bike. Try not to ride in salty industrial british roads condition if planning on keeping the bike long-term!
Ducatis will corrode if used through winter and not protected properly (ACF50 for example). Check for engine paint flaking underneath. Make sure the bike is clean and well cared for. Service record is very important and watch out for when the next full service with belts and valve shims is due as that can be £7-800! Good luck but do be fussy and make sure you get a good bike.
Welcome to the forum....I think trying to keep a ducati corrosion free from stock you may as well change your name to king herod. If your planning on keeping it long term then factor in replacement of most of not all fixings with either ti or stainless, extensive re-coating and if the engine paint starts to go about 2k to sort that out.....(I'm right in the middle of it now). Having said that if you do, do all of the above then it'll be easier to keep clean, and youll be able to ride it pretty well anywhere anytime of the year.

Welcome on boardTry find a motorcycle that is original factory specification with the extra naughty bits like carbon etc,so when you do come to sell it you can return it to original spec.
If I'm not mistaken(anyone correct me if I'm wrong), 05's should also come with both black and "red" keys too.
I've pm'd you Mr Disapearing o/p man but not sure if you can get pm's as a non sponsor? Given where you are, Glen at Moto V might be a good contact for advice, independent technician and might know local sales by owners? http://www.moto-v.co.uk/
