Help - Which Screen?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by antk, Jun 1, 2014.

  1. Just got my 11 MS 1200 2 weeks ago and took it to France for 4 day 1500 mile mini tour! The bike is bloody brilliant, very confidence inspiring despite it pissing down almost continuously. I found out how crap my new 'waterproof' RST textile suit and Daytona boots were!

The screen is standard Ducati and whilst its good for shielding turbulence, its cock off noisy unless I duck down an inch (I'm 5' 11''). Had a fabbri on my cb1000r which was good, anyone tried one?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I have 2 spare screens both Givi's a pikes pike copy, excellent for messing around on, and a givi larger touring perfect for touring high speed on the motorway, very little wind noise around the head compared to the oem.

  3. Thanks madproff, I will look at that. I keep reading about 'Aztec spacers', I assume to move the screen further away from the riders head? Do you have these? Know where I can get some?

  4. Hi, I have just upgraded from a 2010 bike to a skyhook, I have 2 puig screens both light tint, 1 sport short one and a touring version. I also have a set of Aztec spacers if your interested. The short screen is almost new!

  5. Hi, yes would be interested thanks. Do you have a pic of the bike with the touring screen with the spacers? How much are you looking for?
    Cheers

  6. Pm'd you bud.

  7. I have not tried them, but read a few posts who have, and they can work for some, and not as well for others. the good news is there will be a way to solve your problem somehow

  8. I recently got a set of Aztec spacers for my 2010 DP Touring Screen and they totally eliminate the head shaking buffeting, although as a downside, the back of my jacket gets plastered in crud when it's wet now, so they must create a significant negative void in the rider zone? The noise from the shoulder level turbulence is still there though. Aztec can be contacted on here (search members for Aztec).

I am however, waiting for a set of Eagle winglets, which they are cutting down by 10mm for me (to miss my Barkbusters) to see if that noise can also be eliminated?

  9. Thanks, it's the noise that bothers me more than anything, I have tinnitus and it seems even worse now and I've been back a week! Be interested to hear how you get on with the winglets.

  10. I will post up once they arrive/get fitted/get ridden.

  11. Have a Calsci (3 bolt fixing screen) for sale if you want one? PM me if you want details etc.

  12. MRA + Aztec spacers + eagle screens winglets. Best solution for me.

  13. image.jpg Well, the Eagle Winglets arrived, but even cut down by 10mm, the Barkbusters still clashed quite badly.

I have set about them with the Dremel and some sandpaper (not too bad, seeing as I am a ham fisted eejit) and got to a situation where the BB's "just" brush the winglets on full lock, but I can at least use the steering lock.

Quick blast up the dual carriageway would indicate that the noise roar at shoulder level, although still there, is much reduced, so overall, relatively pleased?
