Hertfordshire Newbie

  1. Hi All,

    Bit about me.

Just put a deposit (and traded a 2010 GSXR1000LO) against a 2011 Multistrada 1200 Touring S which I should get in a couple of weeks. It is the first Ducati I will have owned but the test ride sold me.

After much soul searching I traded the Gixer in. As much as I love it, my wife hated it and found it really passenger unfriendly. I enjoy a ride out with my mates but it defeats the object (for me personally) to have a bike that my wife will never go on the back of. Trips out or to see friends were done by me on the bike and her in the car.

I wanted something that would offer both fun and adequate performance for me solo but something that could be civilised for us both so that we can enjoy trips in the UK, the IOM TT and abroad.

I have been living in Hertfordshire for the last three years but prior to that was 30 years in the Isle of Man and competed at the TT (Southern 100, Scarborough and the Dundrod150) as a Sidecar passenger for a number of years, although I have no hung my leathers up on Sidecars following an accident at the Southern 100 in 2005.

I did have a wee dabble into circuit racing on a mates TL1000R and that was an...erm...experience which was short lived. My talent for racing solo's did not match my talent for being a passenger where I did not control the throttle!

I was also Dep Sector Marshall at Ballacraine (for those who know it) on the Isle of Man for the TT and MGP and have family over there so I always have free digs and I plan to be back over there in 2014, although whether I marshal or just go to meet up with mates and put a few laps in remains to be seen.

Anyways, I have bored you enough and will fill in my profile details a bit later.

    Cheers

    Fitzjnr

  5. Hi and welcome, I am sure you will love the Multi. I am near Hitchin if you fancy meeting up some time when I have a pass

  6. Enjoy your new toy, I'm sure the mrs will enjoy being pillion and you'll enjoy the occasional blat on your own, and still keep up with your gixer mates or be in front, and have no sore neck at the end of the day

  7. Hello and welcome!

  8. Thanks for the welcome guys. Just got a quote to go form the Gixer to the Multi tonight, half way through the year and including the 25.00 admin fee they wanted 52.00 which I thought was ok. All being well, I can finish the trade and collect the bike next weekend.

I have to admit I was a little unsure whether I was doing the right thing but reading these forums and even some of the feedback from the GSXR Forums, I am pretty positive I have and am really looking forward to it.

Once I get it all sorted I will look up some of the locals (and maybe not so locals) for a run out.

  9. Welcome to the forum
