hi all, im on the edge as to wether to buy a ducati or not its in mint condition and is sat in the dealership at the moment and has 15 k miles on it but no service history and they want 3290 for it, is it worth the gamble? also what do i need to ask the garage about it? ive gone off jap bikes completely and need some italian loving again whats it like owning a ducati? cheers guys and gals
How old is it? Is it the earlier model (grey swingarm/grey frame) or later version (black swingarm/red frame)? Most Ducati buyers will look for full service history...you might find it difficult to sell this on
It's a 749 not a 749S and it's a Biposto.... less desirable. There are better bikes than that for the money, walk away. This thread might be an interesting read for you.... Which used Bike to go for ? 2004 749s 26K Miles or 2005 749 with 16k Miles ? | Ducati Forum
It's been up for sale for a long time. Looks like Chinese fairing so possibly been dropped. I'd really leave that one if I were you. Occasionally great bikes come up for little money so if you want wait a month or so something better will come up.
cheer guys ill let this one pass then, this is disheartening lol i really want one of these cheers for the link ill give it a gander in abit heres the link incase you want to have a look if you havent already seen it eBay item number: 360881433165
Hi, The 749s is a great bike, it's my first entry into the Italian fold and I love it..... But be patient, I was looking for 7 months for the right one, I wasn't looking for mint but more of the truthful traceable life it's had, if it's got good service history but the bike never has any of the recommendations done then 6 months later you see a bill for this part with a recovery/breakdown receipt then this is worse than regular home maintenance, look for belts and shims as recent as poss or be prepared to have £500 to spend on purchase,,,,, I found a biposta, 2003 grey swing arm, all amber and red marked items on serviced done within a week of service, 13k, clean but not mint, belts and shims done within 2k all for £3000, I was lucky that the guy needed a house deposit but they turn up if your just a bit patient.......... Just my experience and others here may disagree....... But 7 mth later is still strong and the only money I'm spending is making it mine!!!
A couple of decent ones have popped up on ebay recently at just over £3000 interestingly both of sold within the week, the bikes left on there are either knackered or the asking price is a grand too high.
If you read this then you will see my 2004 749s approx 6500 miles on her belts replaced 2 years ago will need done later this year mot done in february tax until august, Iam going to put it on the net for about £4375 make me an offer.
